Great Reading in RIBIT!

A Series of Unfortunate Events - Book the First

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket

This is the first book in the very popular series about the tragic lives of the Baudelaire children. Violet, Klaus and Sunny are left orphans after their parents are killed in a fire. They are then sent to live with their only living relative, the greedy Count Olaf. He plots to claim the fortune which the children are to inherit by the most devious of means. Life moves from one disaster to the next in this tale of intrigue.

A cleverly written novel with an interesting use of language and quirky characters.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

by J.K. Rowling

The first book in the smash series about the child wizard, Harry Potter and his adventures at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Enter the magical world of spells, enchantments, dragons and the dark arts.

This book is guaranteed to have you hooked and the good news is that there are another 3 greta books to enjoy! Read the book before the movie is released in November.

Prayer for the twenty-first century

by John Marsden

This prayer outlines the hopes and fears for the future which many of us hold. Covering issues of the environment, family and violence, John Marsden's sensitive poem is beautifully enhanced by thought provoking art work.

This is a picture book which will definitely appeal to older readers and those who are interested in the future of our world.
